Physical Development

Learning to change and dress independently. Write dance / parachute and circle games .

 Using  malleable materials. 

Teach tracing plus other fine motor skills , threading, peg boards etc.  Scissor skill activities.

All other PD activities are on going and tailored to be cross curricular with the topic.

Reading  -Introduce Teddy Books and early book skills. Introduce ORT characters through flip over/ discussion cards. Introduce Key  vocab. and begin learning key word cards when appropriate.

Phonics  -Teach Letter sounds and begin simple word building. ( 3 / 4 SOUNDS PER WEEK )  Rhyming activities.

Writing - Opportunities for emergent writing in role play.  Daily Name card practise. Writing opportunities linked to phonics.  News writing.

Reading– Key vocabulary and simple sentences.  Patterned and story  language. Traditional Tales and ORT Big Books .

Phonics- Letter sounds continued – reading / writing and links with other areas of the curriculum

Retelling and sequencing stories through use of puppets and role play. Rhyming strings.

Writing -Writing captions and simple sentences using sounds knowledge. Opportunity for free emergent writing.

Number-Sorting, matching , working with numbers to 10 and counting and making sets of objects reliably. Sing mathematical songs.  More/ less ordering.  Introduce Numicon

Shape, space, measures-Exploring shape – 2D and 3D naming and using language to describe properties.  Making pictures, sorting and constructing.

Shape, space and measures–Length and weight -Ordering sizes and learning comparative language. Pattern – recognising and making simple repeating patterns. Positional and directional language. Introduce bee bots for directional language. Simple routes – giving and following instructions.
